Baseball Game Preview: Miamisburg Vikings vs. St. Xavier Bombers

The Miamisburg Vikings will face off against the St. Xavier Bombers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Thursday, Miamisburg didn't have quite enough to beat Northmont and fell 2-1.

Kaiden Trent was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

Meanwhile, St. Xavier came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Indians a 10-0 shutout.

St. Xavier pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Miamisburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-13.

Miamisburg came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Xavier in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bombers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
