Basketball Game Preview: St. John Tigers vs. Central Plains Oilers

The St. John Tigers will square off against the Central Plains Oilers on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. John will head into Tuesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 70-point drubbing they dealt Chase on Tuesday. St. John simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Chase 90-20. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Kats are ranked 349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central Plains never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Otis-Bison last Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 57-28 win over the Cougars.

Central Plains pushed their record up to 10-2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.4 points per game. As for St. John, their win bumped their record up to 12-3-1.
