Preview: Hargrave Falcons vs. Lumberton Raiders
The Hargrave Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Lumberton Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hargrave will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
Last Friday, Hargrave took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 51-22 win over Splendora.
Meanwhile, Lumberton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Vidor 54-28. Given Lumberton's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 197th, while Vidor is ranked 406th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lucas Powell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 276 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Jaddon Ward and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Lumberton's win.
Their wins bumped Hargrave to 1-6 and Lumberton to 4-3.
Hargrave was taken down by Lumberton 49-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Hargrave, Brady Fuselier (who picked up 90 receiving yards and four touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
