Softball Recap: Cocoa Beach Has No Trouble Against Palm Bay

Cocoa Beach's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Palm Bay Pirates 20-2. Considering the Minutemen have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Rachel Juarez looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Cann, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Kaelin Goslin was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Cocoa Beach always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Cocoa Beach back to even at 7-7. As for Palm Bay, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Cocoa Beach and Palm Bay will both be playing Heritage the next time they take the field. The Minutemen will host the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Pirates will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on the 8th.
