Softball Recap: Roosevelt Extends Winning Streak to Six

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Roosevelt walked away with it. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Strathmore Spartans on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Rough Riders sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Iyanna Molano made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Lenna Garcia was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 16-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Strathmore, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-9.

Looking ahead, Roosevelt will take on Torres at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rough Riders will need to watch out since the Toros have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. Strathmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
