Softball Recap: Ruston Comes Up Short

Ruston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 14-2 to the Alexandria Trojans, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-14 on March 11th.

Ruston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annaliese Doss, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Those two hits gave Doss a new career-high.

Ruston's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Alexandria, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ruston will venture away from home to square off against Pineville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alexandria, they will head out to take on North DeSoto at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. North DeSoto's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Alexandria's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
