Baseball Recap: Upper Sandusky Has No Trouble Against Bucyrus

While Upper Sandusky put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Bucyrus. The Rams blew past the Redmen 9-0. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Redmen: they've now won eight in a row.

Josh Heilman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Brody Cox was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season. Justin Heilman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Upper Sandusky hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive matches.

Upper Sandusky's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Bucyrus, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

Looking ahead, Upper Sandusky will face off against Columbian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bucyrus will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' contest: after the Rams face off against the Tornadoes, they'll take on Bucyrus again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
