Basketball Game Preview: Ramona Bulldogs vs. Olympian Eagles

The Ramona Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Olympian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ramona's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.

Last Friday, Ramona took their game with ease, bagging an 87-41 win over Escondido. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Ramona had a senior duo take command as Colin Dillon went 12-for-25 en route to 35 points along with five boards and three steals and Daniel Penner made all 10 shots he took for 26 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The contest was Penner's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Gage Gwyn was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Olympian didn't have too much trouble with Monte Vista on Friday as they won 82-67. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Monarchs are ranked 642nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ramona better focus on containing Sammell Humphries and Tristan Anderson as the pair were huge in Olympian's win. Humphries dropped a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Anderson almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Walker, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points and seven assists.

Ramona's win bumped their record up to 13-14. As for Olympian, their victory bumped their record up to 22-6.

Ramona strolled past Olympian when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 74-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ramona since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
