Baseball Recap: Campo Verde Triumphs

On Tuesday Campo Verde's undefeated season almost came to an end. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Desert Ridge Jaguars 4-2. The four-run effort marked the Coyotes' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Ezekiel Zion made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Zion was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Anthony Flacco tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaden Evahnenko, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Rosner, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Campo Verde's record is now 6-0. As for Desert Ridge, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Campo Verde will take on Highland at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Campo Verde's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Highland's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Desert Ridge, they will face off against Camelback at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
