Softball Recap: Campbellsville Triumphs

It was close, but on Monday the Campbellsville Eagles sidestepped the Boyle County Rebels for a 7-5 victory.

Riley Underwood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubreigh Knifley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Lily Murphy was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Campbellsville's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Boyle County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Campbellsville will square off against Hart County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Boyle County, they will host George Rogers Clark at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
