Basketball Recap: Plainfield Gets the Win

After losing to Greenwood the last time they met, Plainfield decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Plainfield Quakers made off with a 65-64 win over the Greenwood Woodmen.

Plainfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Smith, who went 12-for-20 en route to 27 points and seven boards. Smith's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Harper Baker-Lands was another key player, going 7-for-9 to rack up 19 points.

Plainfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood only pulled down one offensive board.

Parker Doolin and Isaac O'Neal certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Doolin went 7-for-9 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds, while O'Neal went 5-for-8 en route to 15 points. Thanks to that strong game, O'Neal now owns an excellent 45.4% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Acen Swain, who posted 12 points.

Plainfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Greenwood, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Plainfield will head out to square off against Franklin Community at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st. Franklin Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Greenwood, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-47 win against Seymour on the 15th.
