Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Academy Eagles vs. Calvary Christian Academy

Heritage Academy and Calvary Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Heritage Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Calvary Christian Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Heritage Academy earned an 8-3 win over Mount Airy Christian Academy.

Caleb Wise and Ryan Hollinger made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Wise struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Hollinger pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wise has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Wise went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Hollinger went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aden Cole, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Heritage Academy is 3-1 when Cole posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Calvary Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against GVCS Broadfording, falling 10-0.

Heritage Academy's record now sits at 4-5. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Heritage Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Calvary Christian Academy in their previous meeting on April 3rd, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
