It was fun while it lasted, but Asotin's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Saturday. They fell just short of the Liberty Lancers by a score of 47-44. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Lancers are ranked 211th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Asotin fell to 7-1. As for Liberty, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Asotin Panthers face off against the Colton Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on December 31st. The timing isn't great for Colton: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Asotin has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. Liberty will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against White Swan at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
