Baseball Recap: Saint Ignatius College Prep Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Saint Ignatius College Prep had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Chicago University Maroons a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Wolfpack not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 18-8).

Sebastian Cuadros made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Ethan Conway looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ben Marasovich, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Ponce, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Saint Ignatius College Prep's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Chicago University, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Coming up, Saint Ignatius College Prep will look to defend their home field on Monday against Brother Rice at 4:30 p.m. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something the Wolfpack surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chicago University, they are taking a road trip to challenge Kenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
