Football Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Skates Past Sweetwater with Ease + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Dei Catholic). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-15 win over the Sweetwater Red Devils. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Crusaders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Red Devils are ranked 556th).

Mater Dei Catholic found their leader in freshman Jayden Blondin, who rushed for 101 yards and one score, and also threw for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Jordan Dumaran was in the mix as well, providing the Crusaders with two TDs.

Mater Dei Catholic pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.8 points on average over those games. As for Sweetwater, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Mater Dei Catholic will square off against Eastlake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sweetwater does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
