Preview: Sussex Central Golden Knights vs. Cape Henlopen Vikings
Sussex Central is 1-9 against Cape Henlopen since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Sussex Central Golden Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Cape Henlopen Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Sussex Central comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Saturday, Sussex Central took a serious blow against Delmarva Christian, falling 57-14.
Meanwhile, Cape Henlopen was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 48-44 to Dover.
Cape Henlopen's defeat came about despite a quality game from Amalia Fruchtman, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Faith Re, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Sussex Central bumped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.7 points per game. As for Cape Henlopen, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Sussex Central was taken down by Cape Henlopen 67-20 in their previous matchup back in February. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sussex Central was down 37-12.
