Baseball Recap: Hesston Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Hesston rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Silver Lake Eagles by a score of 11-6. The win was familiar territory for the Swathers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Blayne Wilson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hesston's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Gabe Mowry, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hesston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Hesston's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Silver Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-8.

Looking ahead, Hesston will take on Sabetha at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The last three games the Bluejays have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Silver Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
