Softball Recap: Notus Wins Going Away Against Wilder

Notus won the last time they faced Wilder and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Pirates blew past the Wildcats 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emalee Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cierra Norris, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Kiah McAmis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Notus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in three consecutive games.

Notus' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Wilder, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.

Coincidentally, Notus and Wilder will both be playing Rimrock the next time they take the field. The Pirates will head out to face the Raiders at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
