Softball Recap: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans
Astoria/VIT had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-15 to make it five. They lost 12-2 to the Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia Trojans. The Rebels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Astoria/VIT saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was L Hite, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Considering they have won 15 games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia's side, Addilynn Tracy was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave Tracy a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Rohn was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Sophya Ogden, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will head out to take on Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, they are taking a road trip to square off against Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
