Baseball Game Preview: IDEA Quest College Prep Trailblazers vs. Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys

The IDEA Quest College Prep Trailblazers will head out on the road to challenge the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. IDEA Quest College Prep has now lost ten straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 29.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for IDEA Quest College Prep's offense. They came up short against Hebbronville on Tuesday, falling 24-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Falfurrias). They never let Monte Alto get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Fightin' Jerseys brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Derek Chavera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryan Ramirez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. RJ Ozuna was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Falfurrias hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Falfurrias' record is now 10-8-2. As for IDEA Quest College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

IDEA Quest College Prep might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Falfurrias in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Can IDEA Quest College Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
