Basketball Recap: Dunnellon Falls Short of Eastside in the Playoffs

Dunnellon and Eastside squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Dunnellon had to settle for second. They fell 45-36 to the Eastside Rams. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Dunnellon lost, don't look at Tonyah Boggs. Despite the final result, she went 9 of 20 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most points Boggs has posted since back in December of 2024. Joseleen Malave was another key player, putting up eight points.

Eastside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zion Suggs out in front who put up 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyauri O'Neal, who scored nine points.

Dunnellon's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Eastside, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-10.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Dunnellon will challenge Bishop Moore at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Moore is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. As for Eastside, they will square off against Mulberry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mulberry will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Eastside surely won't give up without a fight.
