Football Recap: Monterey Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Monterey unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 44-23 to the Choctaw Yellowjackets on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Plainsmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 396th in Texas, while the Yellowjackets are ranked tenth in Oklahoma).

Although Monterey took the loss, they still got scores from Cam Taylor, Darron Moore, and Legin Williams.

Coming up, Monterey will take on Wylie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Choctaw, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hays at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
