Softball Recap: Perry Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

Perry's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Conneaut Spartans get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Madelyn Rupert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Arianna Rogers was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Elise Strahan was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Perry is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Conneaut, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Perry will face off against Jefferson Area at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Conneaut, they will challenge Grand Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
