Soccer Recap: Olympia Takes a Loss

Olympia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Barracudas are ranked 17th).

Olympia's goal came courtesy of Guilherme Valente, who's now up to 13 this season.

Olympia's loss dropped their record down to 3-5-3. As for New Smyrna Beach, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-0-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Ocoee the next time they take the pitch. Olympia will head out to face Ocoee at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, while New Smyrna Beach will play them later in the day, at 10:00 a.m.
