Softball Recap: Saranac Starts off Right with Win over Northeastern Clinton

Saranac had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on Friday. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

The result came thanks to Abby Owen's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Layla Pellerin was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Abby Liberty, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Northeastern Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Saranac has already played their next contest (against Saranac Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Northeastern Clinton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 4-1 win against Beekmantown on the 7th.
