Basketball Game Preview: Grand Rapids Thunderhawks vs. Duluth East Greyhounds

Grand Rapids hasn't had much luck against Duluth East recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Grand Rapids Thunderhawks will head out to challenge the Duluth East Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Grand Rapids came up short against Fergus Falls and fell 71-59. While losing is never fun, the Thunderhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Otters are ranked 92nd).

Duluth East hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They managed a 58-52 victory over Jefferson on Friday.

Duluth East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Grand Rapids, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Grand Rapids suffered a grim 79-54 defeat to Duluth East when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Grand Rapids avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
