Lafayette hadn't done well against Sulphur recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lions blew past the Golden Tors 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lions have posted against the Golden Tors since October 24, 2017.

Lafayette was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21, 25-19.

Lafayette found their leader in sophomore Avery Larpenteur, who had six digs and four aces. Larpenteur has been hot recently, having also posted 14 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Lafayette was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.

Lafayette has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Sulphur, their loss dropped their record down to 13-25.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lafayette is set to square off against their familiar foe New Iberia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sulphur will take on rival Southside at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
