Basketball Recap: Columbus North Bull Dogs vs. Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs
The Columbus North Bull Dogs and the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Columbus North Bull Dogs had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Grizzly Cubs on the road and fell 74-25. Columbus North has not had much luck with the Grizzly Cubs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Several Bull Dogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Johnson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Johnson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Paige Terry was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds.
Franklin Community got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedy Urban out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Urban scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn York, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Columbus North has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Franklin Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Columbus North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Franklin Community won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Whiteland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Grizzly Cubs are ranked sixth).
