Kennedy Catholic is a perfect 10-0 against Mt. Rainier since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lancers will face off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Kennedy Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Kennedy Catholic will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Kentwood, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lancers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Conquerors on Wednesday.
Harvey Lieberman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brayden Seiber was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jesse LaBella was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Kennedy Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Auburn Riverside hit Mt. Rainier with a five-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ravens.
Jack Fenton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Jack Kelly also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Mt. Rainier's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.75 runs. As for Kennedy Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kennedy Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mt. Rainier struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kennedy Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Rainier in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
