Baseball Recap: Estill County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Estill County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Wolfe County Wolves by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Engineers, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Bryce Drake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Estill County is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hayden Woolery was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Mason Raider was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Estill County back to even at 3-3. As for Wolfe County, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Estill County will challenge Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wolfe County, they will take on Springboro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
