Spanish Springs faced Fernley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Vaqueros 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Spanish Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hailey Husted led the charge by getting ten digs and one assist. Those ten digs gave Husted a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Antle, who had eight digs and five assists.

Spanish Springs was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive games.

Spanish Springs' record is now 9-1. As for Fernley, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3.

Spanish Springs has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Carson on the 23rd. As for Fernley, they will face off against Truckee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
