Basketball Game Preview: Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds vs. Amherst Falcons

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds duke it out with the Amherst Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Iola-Scandinavia will be strutting in after a win while Amherst will be coming in after a loss.

Iola-Scandinavia got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They blew past Shiocton 59-35 on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Thunderbirds considering their 24-point performance the game before.

Meanwhile, Amherst was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against Weyauwega-Fremont, falling 49-21. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.

Amherst's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Iola-Scandinavia, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.

Iola-Scandinavia might still be hurting after the 51-31 defeat they got from Amherst when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Iola-Scandinavia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
