Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Ridge vs. Williamsport

The Mountain Ridge Miners will head out to take on the Williamsport Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Ridge will be strutting in after a victory while Williamsport will be coming in after a loss.

Mountain Ridge had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Bishop Walsh on Monday. The Miners blew past the Spartans 5-1. The matchup was close at halftime, but Mountain Ridge turned on the heat in the second half with three goals.

They hit Bishop Walsh with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Austin Simpson (2), Zach Haberlein, Trenton Diamond, and Ben Broadwater.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Williamsport faced off against Walkersville on Monday. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The defeat continues a trend for Williamsport in their meetings with Walkersville: they've now lost four in a row.

Mountain Ridge now has a winning record of 6-5-2. As for Williamsport, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.

Mountain Ridge beat Williamsport 2-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
