Thunderbird and Shadow Mountain are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Titans will be playing at home against the Matadors at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thunderbird is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, Thunderbird got the win against Agua Fria by a conclusive 20-3. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Addison Hodge and Catarina Beams were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hodge pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Beams tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hodge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Hodge went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI, while Beams went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Danielle Ramirez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Richards, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Thunderbird always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Agua Fria only posted an OBP of .450.
Meanwhile, Shadow Mountain unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 12-7 to Thunderbird.
Shadow Mountain saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Strickland, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Thunderbird's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Shadow Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thunderbird has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Shadow Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Thunderbird was able to grind out a solid win over Shadow Mountain in their previous matchup on Monday, winning 12-7. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Matadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
