Basketball Game Preview: Stratford Spartans vs. Whites Creek Cobras

Stratford is 2-8 against Whites Creek since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Stratford Spartans will square off against the Whites Creek Cobras at 7:30 p.m.

Stratford is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against East Nashville Magnet on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Stratford was beaten by East Nashville Magnet 81-53. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-22.

Despite their loss, Stratford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Joseph Campbell, who posted ten points, was perhaps the best of all. Campbell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Montez Martin, who scored nine points.

Whites Creek played against RePublic and won via forfeit.

The win was the fourth in a row for Whites Creek, bringing their record for this year to 7-9. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points per game. As for Stratford, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Stratford was taken down by Whites Creek 69-23 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Stratford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
