Basketball Recap: Stargate School Takes a Loss

Stargate School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Arrupe Jesuit Generals.

Despite the defeat, Stargate School saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sloan Kunz dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. That's the most points Kunz has posted since back in December of 2024.

Gisela Benevides was the offensive standout of the match as she shot 64% from the field en route to 15 points and five steals. She has become a key player for Arrupe Jesuit: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 8-12 otherwise. Leila Alvarez was another key player, putting up eight points.

Stargate School's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Arrupe Jesuit, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.

As of now, neither Stargate School nor Arrupe Jesuit have any future games scheduled.
