Volleyball Recap: Basic Wolves vs. Legacy Longhorns
Basic's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They skirted past the Legacy Longhorns 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Basic took Legacy into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-15, 15-25, 18-25, 15-9.
When it comes to explaining why Legacy lost, don't look at Miy'Aja Diggs. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs, five aces, and four kills. Diggs is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Damaia Bryant, who had seven aces, six blocks, five kills, and five digs.
Basic's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Legacy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Basic and Shadow Ridge will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Shadow Ridge will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Basic surely won't give up without a fight. As for Legacy, they will play host again on Monday to welcome Doral Academy Red Rock, where the match is scheduled at 6:00 p.m.
