Softball Recap: Ashley Takes a Loss

Ashley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 11-7 to the Lumberton Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in February.

Laina Toudle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Sawyer Rigdon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Lumberton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Ashley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against South Brunswick on the 28th. As for Lumberton, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Cape Fear on the 28th.
