Valmeyer extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They came up short against the Dupo Tigers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 last Thursday.
Avery Proffer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Erin Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
As for Dupo, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Considering they have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Dupo's side, Kylie Kloess made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Kloess has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kylie Pierce and Kaitlyn Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Pierce went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Roberts went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Roberts has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Thornton, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Valmeyer wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-2 defeat against Steeleville on the 11th. As for Dupo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-3 victory against Gibault Catholic on the 12th.
