Monticello hasn't had much luck against Warwick recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Monticello is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 18-0 to Goshen Central.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Warwick made sure to put some runs up on the board against Washingtonville on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Wizards. Considering the Wildcats have won four games by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jalyn Rosario made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Amanda Larsen looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Etta Garofalo was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Eva Garofalo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Warwick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.
Warwick is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Monticello, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
