Baseball Recap: Alexander Central Find Success

Alexander Central won the last time they faced Freedom and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cougars came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Newt Rexrode spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kade Church, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Koa Mikeal, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Alexander Central's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Freedom, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Alexander Central will take on Hibriten in a tournament on Monday. As for Freedom, they will be taking part in a tournament against East Burke at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
