Preview: Montgomery County Wildcats vs. North Callaway Thunderbirds
Montgomery County is 9-1 against North Callaway since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Montgomery County Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. Montgomery County is looking to tack on another W to their 14-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Montgomery County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season. They blew past Silex 63-33 on the road.
Meanwhile, North Callaway had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-45 win over Paris.
North Callaway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Shryock, who scored 24 points. Riley Blevins was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six assists and four steals.
Montgomery County's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for North Callaway, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Everything went Montgomery County's way against North Callaway when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Montgomery County made off with a 52-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montgomery County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
