Preview: Lamesa Tornadoes vs. Brownfield Cubs
The Lamesa Tornadoes will head out on the road to square off against the Brownfield Cubs at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of three wins, Lamesa's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 31-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dimmitt. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lamesa in their matchups with Dimmitt: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Brownfield ended up a good deal behind Littlefield on Tuesday and lost 56-41. While losing is never fun, Brownfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 706th, while Littlefield is ranked 215th).
Despite the loss, Brownfield saw an underclassman step up: Alliey Coffey scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amery Pauda, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Lamesa's loss dropped their record down to 19-10. As for Brownfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-16.
Lamesa came up short against Brownfield in their previous meeting on January 2nd, falling 32-26. Can Lamesa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
