Softball Recap: East Providence's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Salle Academy, East Providence was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ponaganset Chieftains, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Townies have posted since April 24, 2024.

Cassie Dulude spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, East Providence's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Boisseau, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Marianna Pina also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

East Providence's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-4. As for Ponaganset, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. East Providence will challenge rival Cumberland at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Ponaganset is set to square off against their familiar foe Smithfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
