Softball Recap: Catholic Central Comes Up Short

Catholic Central had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-18 to make it five. They came up short against the West Liberty-Salem Tigers, falling 23-0. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

As for West Liberty-Salem, they moved to 5-13 with that win, which also ended their nine-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For West Liberty-Salem's part, Kaylee Blair was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most runs Blair has posted since back in March. Karlee Lucas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Coming up, Catholic Central will challenge Triad at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Liberty-Salem, they will face off against Northeastern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jets have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
