Football Recap: Pine View Starts off Right with Win over Manti

Pine View gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They secured a 51-45 W over the Manti Templars. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 58-42 win the Templars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Levi Shaw had a dynamite game, throwing for 417 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in August of 2024.

Pine View's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out Carter Mason. three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Dayton Christensen, Aisea Fifita, and Hela Manutai, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Manti lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mason, who threw for 442 yards and four TDs while completing 77.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 66 yards. Manti's leading receiver Stone Mortensen was Mason's top target yet again, picking up 254 receiving yards and three scores.

Pine View has already played their next match, a 50-34 defeat against Cedar on the 22nd. As for Manti, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-7 victory against Juan Diego Catholic on the 22nd.
