Recap: Floyd Central Jaguars vs. Pike County Central Hawks
The Floyd Central Jaguars pushed their score all the way to 77 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 86-77 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pike County Central. Floyd Central has not had much luck with Pike County Central recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Floyd Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ronnie Samons, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Dawson Moore was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine assists and five rebounds.
Floyd Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for Pike County Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.
Floyd Central will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Rowan County at 4:00 p.m. As for Pike County Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Paintsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Paintsville is ranked 89th, while Pike County Central is ranked 91st).
