Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Tallmadge

Tallmadge waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Barberton Magics 14-2. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.

Caitlyn Carter made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marissa Charton, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Sophia Kroah was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Tallmadge's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Barberton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tallmadge will square off against Stow-Munroe Falls at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Barberton, they will challenge Copley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
