Willows is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will challenge the Paradise Bobcats at 2:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Willows' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Williams 17-0. The win continues a trend for the Honkers in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won four in a row.
Meanwhile, Paradise hadn't done well against Colusa recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the RedHawks. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Aydrik Stolz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Paradise is undefeated when Stolz posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jack Kegg was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Nate Meldrum was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Paradise hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.
Willows picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Paradise, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-3.
Willows beat Paradise 6-3 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Honkers repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
