Baseball Recap: Lakeview Has No Trouble Against Morley Stanwood

Lakeview won the last time they faced Morley Stanwood and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Mohawks. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Braxton Hill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lakeview is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Hill was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Cameron Perez was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lakeview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Braden Salladay was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Lakeview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Morley Stanwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.
